A: Hello! The MSCL-OP153M does not require a True-Earth ground to function properly. It is highly recommended to have your switches grounded and we would recommend checking your local electrical code for rules about grounding devices in your area.

Q:Does this switch click when it turns on?
by|Apr 18, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hello, thank you for your question. The Maestro Motion Sensor LED+ Dimmer is not a relay-based device and therefore does not have an internal audible click when turning the lighting load on and off, just the subtle quiet sound of the Maestro's tap switch itself being pressed. See the below specification sheet for more information:

Answer This Question
A: Hello, thank you for your question. The Maestro Motion Sensor model MSCL-OP153MH is a standalone, non-smart device that is not compatible with the Lutron Caseta smart hub. Only Caseta Wireless devices are compatible for use with the hub for smart control. See available products at the below link for more information:

Q:When I install this in my home, does it matter what 3way I replace, I would like to put it where the switch leg is not the side with constant power, will it work from either side?

Answer This Question
A: Only one of the 3way switches can be replaced with this. So just put it where you want it detecting the motion.

A: Hello! The MSCL-OP153M can be placed on either the Line or the Load side of a 3-way application. Please ensure that you follow the installation guide when rewiring your existing mechanical switch if you are not using the MA-R companion dimmer for your other 3-way location. The wiring information can be found here: https://webapiaw1proddat01st01.blob.core.windows.net/assets/documents/368-4493_Page_10.pdf

Q:My application has (3) led panels that are rated at 50 watts each. This puts it right at the 150 watt limit. Will this be a problem?
by|Dec 13, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hello. We do not see any issue with using the dimmer to its maximum potential. We do recommend making sure the panels are dimmable. Since the dimmer would be loaded right at 150, there is potential for compatibility issues such as a flash when first turning on the light. We would recommend looking at the panel specs to make sure they don't recommend a different option or if they have tested one of our dimmers. We hope this helps.

Q:I have step lights on my stairs attached to a 3-way switch (one at the top and one at the bottom of the stairs). I want a sensor both at the top and at the bottom to activate the lights on the stairs. Is this product capable or, if not, is there another?

A: I would suggest calling Lutron directly. They can best advise you on capabilities of current products and products that may be in development.
To answer your question, though, I do not think their current occupancy sensor can work in 2 locations. I could be wrong and it is a great idea. I have installed these occupancy sensors in the laundry/mudrooms and guest bathrooms in my homes and they are awesome! Highly recommend.

A: Hello! Unfortunately, this device is not capable of being used on both sides of a 3-way application. To use the MS-OPS5M sensor, you would place it at one end of your 3-way and use a standard On/Off light switch at the other end.
