Q:Do these just plug in or are they hard wired?
        by|Oct 4, 2018

        Answer This Question

A:  Each lamp has a conventional two-prong plug. No hard-wiring required. In addition, accessory approximately 2.5-ft cords and 2-inch connectors allow two or more lamps to be connected in series; with either (a) about 2.5-ft end-to-end separation, or (b) essentially adjacent ends for highly concentrated lighting. In this series configuration, pulling the on/off dangling cord activates ALL lamps in the series. I suggest examination of the Livonia web site for the availability of replacement lamp-to-lamp connection cords.

A:  Since six of them will consume only about 240 watts or 2 amps at 120 volts, 15-gage wire would be adequate.

                    by|May 5, 2023

A:  Not being an electrician, I can only give my opinion, and I would recommend asking an electrician before doing this. If you are using a 15 amp circuit, I would not use smaller than awg14.

                      Q:Can I use it in a garage?

                      Answer This Question

A:  I think you could use it, but I would use a light with 4000k brightness on the light spectrum in a garage and something close to 4000 Lumens. Keep in mind this light fixture's wires are external and are located in the center. If you are replacing a fluorescent light as I did, they can be wired at either end or in the center. The wires typically come straight out of the wall and go into the light fixture itself. If those wires are located at one end of the light fixture you may have to relocate the wires and then you will have to install a box that goes into the ceiling. If the wiring is an issue and you don't want to deal with it you can use the following LED light from Home Depot Lithonia 4 ft. 41-Watt White Integrated LED Low Profile Wraparound Flushmount Internet #203839057 Store SKU #1000001686. I ended up using this light fixture in my closet because I didn't want to deal with the wiring issue. I do prefer the look of the smaller, newer light you are looking at.
