A: Never have counted, but there's quite a bunch in there. Go to Hone Depot and check then out. You won't be disappointed... Hope that helps. Wade.

A: I used this with a Lincoln 110v LE31MP. You might want to use a thinner diameter rod if you have a smaller machine

A: Works like a charm if you run it up around 95-100 amps on electrode positive inverter 110v 135 amp from my experience.
by|Dec 5, 2020
A: They will work well and best on dc reverse (electrode positive, negative ground) as long as you provide about 115 or 120 amps.

A: Try 3/32", you won't get much penetration but it WILL run...

A: absolutely.

A: Try the 3/32 size 7018 first on a practice weld.

A: No. A 3/32 7018 would probably be too much. I would suggest possibly gettin a little bigger machine if you intend to weld much.

A: It cannot. Not enough amps.

Q:can you use this to weld aluminium?

Answer This Question
A: No, these sticks are not compatible with aluminum. They work on most mild steels, but aluminum requires a different process, it cannot be successfully welded with stick electrodes. Best to use tig or wire feed for aluminum.
by|May 4, 2023
A: No, these will not work for aluminum, although they will work fine for most mild steel. Aluminum requires a different process, typically tig or wire feed, with filler rod or wire specific to aluminum, and should be done with an AC welder, not DC as most welders are.
by|Jan 14, 2023
A: No you need E4043 for aluminum
by|Apr 1, 2021
A: You can not. This welding rod is for welding steel.
by|May 4, 2023
A: This rod is designed to weld mild steel. There are stick electrodes designed to weld aluminum, Hobart makes some, but they can be much more difficult to run. If you are welding a lot of aluminum, I would recommend either an AC TIG machine or a MIG machine with a spool gun, both of which will require 100% ARGON shielding gas.

Q:I've heard people say it's easier to get an 7018AC arc started again after stopping, are there any other noticeable differences from regular 7018 if welding on DC?

A: it doesn't matter. you just have to basically scrape the flux back only to the electrode
by|Apr 18, 2019
A: Yes and no. Depends on time lapsed. But they can be restarted with a couple of strikes.
by|Dec 9, 2023
A: Very easy to restart!!
by|May 6, 2023
A: The 7018ac is an easy start type of rod. The rad can be used in DC+. You will have to use higher amperage settings when using this rod in DC.

A: Lincoln does not carry 7016 welding rod.
by|May 4, 2023
A: Actually Lincoln DOES make a 7016 welding rod. Probably won't find it at a Home Depot though. http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us/Consumables/Pages/product.aspx?product=Products_Consumable_StickElectrodes-MildandLowAlloySteels-Pipeliner-Pipeliner16P(LincolnElectric)
