Q:Will miss out work in lava rock or damage plants

Answer This Question
A: I see no reason why it would not work on lava rock. It may discolor the rock as the package advises not to use on concrete for that reason. It will not harm plants, but should be beneficial as the moss may be harboring insects that could cause plant damage.

A: It is not advisable to use most weed/moss killing products too near edibles. Moss is generally caused by too little light and airflow, along with too much moisture. It's better to fix these if possible. Thinning overhanging tree branches is a good idea, especially if they have low hanging branches like pines/evergreens. Also waiting for the area to completely dry, at least to a depth of about a inch, between watering can help. Moss also loves acidic soil, so sometimes adding a little wood ash, lime, or other food safe product to bring down the PH can help. Even baking soda can be used in a pinch.

Q:How would you distribute this through out the entire lawn

Answer This Question
A: You can use the shaker bag itself, or put it into a broadcaster like you'd use for seeds. I would recommend wearing a mask if doing it that way, as it can pick up more dust from the material that way.

A: I would not distribute throughout the entire lawn, only in the sections with the moss problem. The package recommends spreading lime across the entire lawn to prevent the moss problem, a solution I am seriously considering.

Q:Moss Out leaves an orange stain on concrete. How can I remove the stain. I tried Clorox but it had no effect.

Answer This Question
A: Hello,
The stain is from the ferrous sulfate in Moss Out for Lawns. It is basically iron that is used to kill the moss. It can leave a rust colored stain on porous surfaces like concrete. A rust stain remover should take out the stain.
