Q:Can you apply fertilizer at the same time that you use spot moss killer on areas of lawn and when do you put lime down?

A: Hi Sarah, We don't recommend applying fertilizer at the same time as the Moss Out. Use the Moss Out treatment first and rake up the dead moss before applying fertilizer. Please test your soil before applying lime. Thank you.

A: I normally apply Moss Out a few days before lawn fertilize. I assume this way the moss dies before it is fertilized. I never used lime.

A: I have not watered after applying it and it worked well. However, I was only applying it in spots (primarily near trees).

A: Just normal watering based on weather conditions. I have used this product for years and have never watered based on the product. The Moss Out will not dry out your yard.

A: I had a good result on the lawn and an exterior rug with moss on it.
by|Dec 16, 2018
A: Yes. A roof with 20 yr. old shingles is where I had moss heavily growing and it is exactly where I used it. A friend in the state of Washington is where I found out about the product and that Home Depot sold it. Just follow instructions. It did not damage or discolor the shingles and the Moss has not grown back to date.

A: No, this product is not designed for use on roofs.

A: Hi Oregon,
This product is for use only in lawns. We recommend either Moss Out for Roofs & Walks for Moss Out for Structures. Both are available in a liquid or granule formula. Thanks!

A: It should work fine on a roof but it only kills the moss and keeps it from spreading or causing even more damage should it continue to spread. It would still require you to remove the moss after it turns brown or black. You could probably do this with you garden hose with spray nozzle but I would recommend using a pressure washer to remove. Do not let the product remain on the surface for more than a few days as this might stain your roof. Hope this helps.

A: Moss-Out doesn't isn't designed to prevent moss from growing, but to kill moss that is growing already.
As for your second question, now is an ideal time to apply Moss-Out in your area.

A: It will help for a time, but the only way to permanently fix a moss issue is to fix the underlying cause; which unfortunately is shade and moisture. What I did to help was thinned the overhanging branches to let a bit more sun and air in. This is especially important if the area has trees (like pines/evergreen) that have branches close to the ground. It is best used when the moss first starts growing, not sure if using it now will act like a preventative or not. Hope this helps!

A: Life in Bend, Oregon rarely requires Moss Out with our dry climate. With that said, I do struggle with a strip under an eave where the automatic sprinklers take good care of all the grass outside of this slim shaded area. I find that applying Moss Out later in the spring, mid to late April, when our grass starts to grow again and we start watering is most effective. The moss is easy to see at this point and readily taken care of. Be sure and follow the directions about raking the dead moss out of the grass when it has turned black. A second application may be needed later in the summer. Two applications per season are the most I have used on this pesky area of our lawn.
