A: because they are commercial grade. spring-contact push-insert back stab type connections are far less durable, and provide less contact area. Time to graduate from the cheap stuff !

A: There's no preference if connecting 1 hot & 1 neutral to power your receptacle. Traditionally, these would be connected to the top brass & top silver screw, but either terminal on that side would be sufficient.

A: You would not connect more then 2 hots to any receptacle (& would need to remove the fin to have the receptacle split fed). With the back wire method, it does allow you to connect 2 wires to 1 terminal, however I'm not familiar with a wiring scenario that would require to have many connections to 1 receptacle.
