A:  A 3/8 drill chuck will work with is drill bit.

by|Apr 18, 2017

A:  This comes with a stepped drill bit. Both the bit and drill bit tang (chuck connection) is 3/8". The pilot hole step is 11/64" . You should be good to go.

Q:Will this fit into a 3/4 inch dado

    Answer This Question

A:  I have used this on dados at different depths. You can use it on 3/4, but you may need to make adjustments to the Kreg drill bit plus position the Kreg jig at the appropriate spot, and use the right length screw. Sounds like a lot is involved, but once you get comfortable using the pocket jig, you will find it is one of the best tools you will ever need, and can be used for many projects.

A:  Not without modification - it measures nearly 0.995" at its widest.

    by|May 5, 2023

A:  I don't think you could, it will probably be too tight, I would try it out on a scrap piece of wood first to see if it can work.

    by|Sep 3, 2019

A:  If you are asking if the jig will lay flat within the 3/4" dado, the the answer is no. The throat of the jig, where you insert the step drill bit is 3/4", but the tail of the jig where the clamp normally goes is 1 full inch. Modifying the jig may cause alignment problems do to jig failure and a real safety hazard.

A:  I am trying to picture which direction you are joining the wood. If this is a shallow 3/4" wide dado attaching a face frame to a cabinet, then you could make it work along the outside of the cabinet. The Kreg jig can join two pieces of wood where one is 3/4" where the drilling is started and the other piece is 1/2" perpendicular to the drilling. (Well, 15 degrees off perpendicular.) It will work and you should make a test piece first but you probably knew thata.

Q:What angle hole does this drill?

      Answer This Question

A:  not sure about angle, but is suitable for 3/4 or 1-inch stock materials. May not work with 1/2 inch thick material..One can possibly insert a smalll wedge between jig and stock to work with thicker stock

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  It is 15 degrees from horizontal - see pics for how this was measured. But like others have said the instructions (also pictured) provide setbacks and stop collar locations to use for various thicknesses of the drilled component. Joints should either be made on equal thickness components or if unequal the thinner component should be the piece drilled per instructions. For example if these are followed to join a pair of 3/4" material using 1-1/4" Kreg fasteners it will result in 5/8" of fastener in each piece of the joint.

        by|May 5, 2023

        A:  I think it's 15 degrees

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  The best I can tell, it seems to hold 22 1/2 degrees with accuracy.

        by|May 4, 2023

A:  I will assume you have an unusual application because the average person using this to join two pieces of wood from 1/2 inch to 1-1/2" thick needs to know that. The collar settings on the drill and the setback on the drill guide align your pieces so that the hole is the proper depth and angle for a joint that does not result in the proper pocket screw coming through the wood. On the Kreg community board I did see someone post that it is 15 degrees from horizontal. Again, that is someone else in the Kreg user community stating the angle, which I have not personally confirmed. There is a discussion of the screw penetration for several examples and so on. You may want to get more info from the post "Screw Penetration Calculations" on the Kreg Owners' Community Bulletin Board. Hope this helps.

          Answer This Question

A:  bit diameter is not relevant as the bit comes with the jig..Also, the pocket hole screws are standard diameter...

A:  The kit comes with a stepped drill bit. The drill bit and the tang (the chuck connection) are both 3/8 ". The pilot hole step is 11/64".

              A:  A 3/8 th drill

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  Bit diameter measures 3/8 inch. I presume you do know trying to use a standard 3/8 inch drill bit will result in problems for most applications. You need the pilot tip to center the pocket screw so that it penetrates the joined wood at the proper spot. By the way, I did not use a caliper accurate to thousandths of an inch to take that measurement so if you are thinking of using your own dowels to fill holes or something like that, you may be disappointed with this answer. It may be off by a tiny fraction.
