Answer This Question
A: Good afternoon,
Thank you for contacting Korky products
I’m glad you contacted me. If your toilet uses either a 1.6 or 1.28 gallons per flush, you probably want to start with the flapper set at 4 and try that, watching to see how the toilet flushes. If the flapper stays open too long causing your toilet to double flush, then you should open the band by dialing down the number till you’re satisfied with the way it’s operating. The more holes you have open the more water will get into the flapper, weighing it down, and making it close faster, but the less water will go into the bowl
If you find the flapper closes too fast to let enough water through to clear the bowl when flushing, then dial the number up to close more holes. The fewer holes open causes air to be trapped inside, making the flapper float a little before falling.
The flapper chain should be hooked to the tank lever in the place that allows it to lift straight up. If the chain is lifting the flapper at an angle, you won’t get maximum lift and the flapper will fall too soon letting less water into the bowl. The chain should also have minimal slack in it. If there’s too much slack, the flapper might have trouble finding its seat when it falls. Any extra chain that’s not being used can interfere with the chain that’s actually doing work, so if there are more than a couple inches, it should be clipped off.
let me know if you have further questions.
