A: Brick is non combustible but not resistant to heat. It will readily absorb, retain, and release hot temps to your room and combustible wall. Build a "floating" wall with a 1" air gap. The gap is what makes it safe. Air needs to move freely.

Q:What chemicals in these can cause cancer? Is it the installation process, or the bricks being present in your home that would extract the toxins. If I plan on using them around a fireplace would the heat extract the chemicals & make them airborne?

A: Traces of Silica are emitted when cutting the manufactured brick. Wearing protective gear is highly recommended to shield from particles that may be inhaled while cutting the cement/concrete brick.

A: Are you asking due to the California 'warning'? California has this warning on probably 95% or more of all products of any kind. I think they just know that anything 'can' cause cancer.
