          Answer This Question

A:  Hello Izzy11. No, you can not make dry ice with this extinguisher. We have extinguishers that are filled with carbon dioxide instead of a dry powder but while sometimes a small amount of dry ice will result from using a carbon dioxide extinguisher, it is not made to make dry ice. We are Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788. Thank you for your interest.

A:  Hello Sakngb. The Kidde model “RESSP” special purpose residential kitchen fire extinguisher is designed, tested and listed to the UL-711A standard to specifically meet NFPA-10 residential cooking media recommendations. This model is a “Special-Use Residential Cooking Media Fire Extinguisher” that incorporates a proprietary soft agent discharge intended to help prevent the potential splashing and spreading of hot cooking media. This residential kitchen fire extinguisher contains 2.5 pounds of a special dry chemical agent formulation which not only extinguishes, but helps saponify and prevent hot cooking media from re-flashing when properly applied.

Q:is the UL 711A kitchen fire extinguisher ABC compliant?

                Answer This Question

A:  Hello CMR1. No. This extinguisher has our standard BC powder in it and is rated for cooking oil and cooking media fires as well as electrical fires. The UL711A refers to the patented nozzle on this extinguisher that meets the UL711A standards. The speed and velocity of the powder is slowed down by the nozzle so that the powder comes out slowly and this keeps from splashing burning cooking oil or grease. However, the AMOUNT of powder that comes out at any one time is increased so that more powder comes out at once to make up for the slow speed of the powder. This helps with kitchen fires such as a burning pan of oil or grease. A class fires are paper and wood fires. B class fires are oil, grease, and cooking media fires. C class fires are electrical fires. This extinguisher and the powder within is not rated for putting out paper or wood fires. We are Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788. Thank you for your interest.

A:  Hello Desperado. In reference to your question, this is NOT a class K extinguisher. A class K extinguisher is a wet chemical extinguisher used for cooking media such as cooking oil and actually cools the oil as it extinguishes the fire to help keep it from catching fire again. Our only class K extinguisher is the model WC-100 KS Pro, part number 25074. Homedepot.com and Home Depot does not usually carry it but if you go to Home Depot and go to the Pro desk, they can special order it for you. If you have any questions about this class K extinguisher, you can call Kidde Product Support at 1-800-880-6788. Thank you for your interest.

                                Answer This Question

A:  Hello Dell. In reference to your question, no. This extinguiser has a dry powder agent that is BC rated, but the fire exinguisher's UL listing is UL711A. The UL listing 711A refers to the proprietary nozzle design allows a broad, dispersed discharge of agent that delivers a high volume, low velocity delivery of dry chemical which does not cause the cooking oil to splash. Kidde's special purpose kitchen fire extinguisher offers peace of mind, safety and ease of use. I will admit I copied and pasted that from the product overview but it is accurate. If we can answer any further questions about this, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-880-6788. Thank you for your interest.
