A:  Hello. It could be the unit is going into an error mode either due to an issue with the alarm or because it has debris in the smoke chamber. Try blowing out the alarm very well with compressed air around the back side edges of the alarm. Check with your local authority requiring smoke alarms to find out exactly what kind of smoke alarms you are required to have and where you are required to have them. This is usually your local fire department, local fire marshal's office, or local town government.
