Q:When running hot water the faucet head slows to a trickle of water. Does not matter if it is the sprayer or the stream setting. You have to hold down the button on the back very hard to get a full stream.

A:  I have the same problem except it is not just for hot water. It also will on go to spray. If you put it on the regular flow it forces itself into spray. Then after maybe 15-30 seconds the flows slowly decreases. I believe there is debris in the nozzle head but I cannot find directions anywhere for how to take the aerator out and clean it. Does anyone know how to disassemble the head so I can clear out the debris in the faucet head?

A:  This has been the most difficult kitchen faucet I've ever encountered. I hopefully will get used to it, at least I am trying. I agree with you re the hot water. It's one of the many things different in this faucet Kohler goofed up on this one.

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  It sounds like when they put the faucet on if it's a new install that there was some debris in the line and it got caught in your faucet when they open the angle stops backup to supply water to it.

A:  I've had a Mazz for three years, and like many others, I've seen this problem with low flow when using the faucet. Kohler says that they sprayer head cannot be disassembled. That's not true. I just took mine apart and reassembled it, and I understand what the problem is. The solution is super simple. Tools needed: Needle nose pliers with sharp tips, or large snap ring pliers. Procedure: Pull out the sprayer. Optionally, unscrew it from the hose. Use a rubber band or tape to hold the hose so that it doesn't slide back down inside the faucet. Look at the bottom of the sprayer. Around the edge of the black plastic aerator piece, you'll see four half circle shaped holes. Shove the tips of your pliers into two of the holes, and unscrew the counterclockwise by 1/8 turn. (If you want to take it all the way apart, keep unscrewing. But it's not necessary.) Reconnect the sprayer to the hose, run water, and flip the toggle switch on the sprayer head back and forth a few times. If you still have problems, unscrew the aerator a little bit more, and retry the toggle switch. Why does this work? The two piece valve chamber gets compressed by the aerator assembly, making it so that there's barely enough room for water to flow. By loosening the aerator slightly, you let the chamber open up slightly, creating room for full water flow. Congratulations. Your Mazz should be good as new!

A:  No, it should not be slowing to a trickle when running hot water. Also, the button should not have to be held down to get a full stream. Try rechecking your connections but you may either have a blockage on the hot water side or a defect in the facet. Good Luck

A:  That does not seem normal, one suggestion is to look into the hot water flow or maybe even particles of dirt or small rocks on the feed of the hot water. But I do not have to hold the button unless there is not enough pressure, But runs well. But your best bet is to call Kohler, Hope that helps.

Q:I see there are many complaints regarding the handle falling off or becoming loose. I also see that Kohler has "fixed" this issue (per comments posted) . So can I be confident that if we purchase this faucet it is one that has the new constructed handle or is it the older model with the bad handle?

A:  I bought my Mazz in Aug 2016 and before I installed it I came here to Homedepot.com to read reviews on it and after reading several complaints about the handle coming loose I called Kohler and I was told that this issue has been fixed and I was assured that I had the new one so I installed it. So my Mazz has been in service more than a year now and it still works like new, no handle issues whatsoever. So Kohler addressed this issue more than a year ago. The odds are you have a revised handle but if you are still nervous, just give them a call and they can tell you what you need to know.

A:  Joe, my name is Jessica with Kohler Customer Service. I am happy to assist with your inquiry. To remove the valve on K-R72511-SD-VS the set screw on the underside of the handle needs to be removed. The handle will then be able to be removed, the bonnet and valve nut are both then able to be removed by turning each counterclockwise to expose the valve to be removed. For additional assistance with this inquiry, please contact our Customer Care Center at 1-800-4KOHLER (1-800-456-4537). Thank you for choosing The Bold Look of KOHLER.

A:  Turn off the water at the valves. Move the handle to the on position. Using a flashlight you should see the set screw about a 1/2 inside the opening at the base of the handle. Unlike what others said, my set screw needed a 1/8" hex wrench (despite calling Kohler customer support who said it was 3/32" hex). Loosen, don't totally unscrew, the set screw and unscrew the handle from the valve stem. Pull off the dome shaped piece that was under the handle to expose the retaining nut. I used a 1 1/16" star socket (not sure if that was the correct size, but that's what I had and it worked) to undo the retaining nut. Remove old cartridge valve and inset the new cartridge valve by aligning the two tabs on the bottom of the value to the holes in the faucet. Turn on water to test for leaks. Turn water valves back off. Screw on the retaining nut, slip on the dome piece, screw on the handle, and tighten the set screw. turn on water valves.
