A:  Hi, this is Laura with Kohler Co. I am happy to assist you with your question. No; this drain is for a tile-in installation. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

    by|Oct 20, 2018

A:  I would assume it would be as long as you're having the shower base re-done but you're best asking a professional who would be doing the work.

      by|Oct 24, 2018

A:  It could be if the base your putting it in has a square mold

        by|Oct 23, 2018

A:  No, this product is for use with tile.

A:  Hi Wn, my name is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm glad to answer your question. Unfortunately, we do not have a seal/riser to bring the drain up 1/4". I'm sorry. Thank you for choosing KOHLER.

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  I am not a professional plumber, I consider myself to be an advanced do-it-yourselfer. I installed this Kohler Drain recently so I am very familiar with it. Kohler would not have a insert/seal like you describe but I have an idea that I think will work for you. 1) Buy a couple of tubes of Permatex Form-A-Gasket sealant or something similar from an automotive parts store. This sealant is going to show around the edges of the drain cover so you might look around and find something with a color that will be acceptable to you. 2) Apply tape to the floor tile surrounding the drain to protect the tile. 3) Place a rag in the drain pipe to keep anything from falling down the drain while you are working on this. 4) Apply the Form-A-Gasket sealant around the perimeter of the body of the drain. The sealant should come in full contact with the edge of the drain body as well as the edges of the tile. Use a small putty knife to shape the sealant. 5) Carefully place the drain cover on top of the sealant and press down on it until you get it to the correct height. 6) Remove the drain cover and immediately clean the sealant off of it. 7) Allow the sealant to harden. You can trim any excess sealant with a knife after the sealant hardens. 8) You will probably need to obtain longer screws for the drain cover in the proper finish (oil rubbed bronze, stainless, brass, etc.) Good luck.

A:  Once it has been installed and tiled this is not possible to adjust. The height is adjusted when packing in the floor pan. You may be able to try and modify it.

                    by|Oct 23, 2018

A:  The square part of the drain is to be set at elevation of the tile, the drain square part will screw up and down as needed for your tile, but if your tile is already in place, then you will have to remove tile around the drain so you can readjust drain elevation.

A:  I don’t know if you can buy just the grill from HD or other retailer but I had great results when dealing with Kohler Customer Support, so if you can’t find a retailer you might try reaching out to Kohler directly. Best of luck.

A:  I had the same problem but had to buy the whole thing. I couldn’t find any square grill alone anywhere

                          by|May 5, 2023

A:  I believe you have to buy the whole unit, the grill is not sold separately through Home Depot. You can buy just the grill through the Kohler website but it almost as expensive as the whole unit.

A:  Yes I have bought the Chrome ones many times that Home Depot stocks and you have to go to the special order desk to get the oil rubbed bronze they sell it with the complete drain unfortunately but it's very reasonably priced for that oil rubbed bronze look

A:  This is designed to receive a rubber membrane then mortar bed then tile. The drain is set first then the membrane and mortar. Finally the tile finish goes flush with drain set height. Great product. fairly difficult without high level mechanical abilities. If unexperienced DIY , advise hire a professional.

A:  It means that the drain is designed to fit flush with the shower tiles. Specifically, the space that you will need to allocate for the drain will need to be square shaped.
