Answer This Question

A:  Hello Martin, this is Keisha with Kohler Co. I am happy to address your question. We would suggest to have the product on hand and measure your actual product for rough-in details. The stud pocket would be based off measuring the bath. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

A:  The stud to stud opening was 60x31.  Obviously snug, but installed just fine (slid in) once enough muscle was on hand to deal with the weight.

A:  Hello Randall, my name is Kassi with Kohler Co. I'd be glad to answer your question. The K-715 can be used with tiled walls however this bath does already have an apron front and adding tile to it would not be recommended. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

              Answer This Question

A:  Yes shower doors can be utilized with this tub.  If the doors selected require attaching to the tub (the ones we selected require such), you will need a diamond drill bit for tile to drill the required hole(s).

Q:I'm concerned about installing this tub on the second floor. The four steel feet looks like they will be supporting a large amount of weight - tub, water, person... Will the plywood flooring on the 2nd floor support that weight?

A:  I can't say for sure in your situation. Depends on where the joists are. But, I will say that my tub is located on the second floor.

A:  You're supposed to have a wooden support block (3x4) alongside the non skirted side of the tub on the wall. It will be supporting some weight as well. Not all of the weight goes onto the foot. We install these all of the time on 3/4" plywood.

Q:Didn't see a specific answer to this question although it was asked. Does this require additional support under the metal feet for use in a second floor bath with a plywood underlayment? Worried the weight of tub, water, and person is too much. Thanks

A:  The tub is heavy but the weight pretty much is distributed over the whole area. If you have the proper floor system in place you should be okay. Other lighter options would be a composite type tub.

A:  I installed mine on the ground floor although we do have a full basement.  If i were installing on the second floor, I would certainly cross brace in the under cavity as the tube is particularly heavy.
