Q:Will it harm rhe brass screws that hold the tank to the bowl on a 2 piece toilet ?

A:  Thanks for contacting Instant Power! Toilet Tank Cleaner is a mild acid that will go after rust, lime and calcium. if any of these are on the brass bolts it will try to remove it. It will not harm the brass, but again will go after the rust, lime and calcium. you can use half the bottle or a quarter of the bottle for test purposes. I have used this with great success in all of my toilets, just don't overuse, more is not better in this case. if you have further questions, you can call our help line 800-613-4242. thanks again for contacting Instant Power!

A:  No. As long as the screws are solid brass (and not just brass colored), the screws will be fine. The beauty of brass is that it does not corrode. It's a good idea to make sure that all of the toilet tank screws on all of your toilets are actually solid brass. (Use a magnet to check -- if they look like brass and the magnet doesn't stick, you're OK.) I learned this the hard way when I became a home owner. IMO, any toilet manufacturer or plumber that does NOT use brass screws should tar-and-feathered. The cost difference is trivial, but the cost of calling a plumber for a mystery leak and the cost of repairing water damage can be significant.

A:  The water for your bidet doesn't come from the toilet tank, which would be gross due to the possibility of mold and mineral build-up. The water for bidet toilet seats and integrated toilet-bidets comes from the supply line. Take a look. As Yogi Berra once said, you can observe a lot by just watching. Also, if you have a problem with water quality, you can get a filter for the supply line.

Q:Is this product effective with rust inside the toilet tank? The inside of a toilet tank in my guest bedroom is covered with rust and consequently when I flush that toilet, the water that enters the toilet bowl is frequently brown.

A:  We used 1/2 bottle on each of three very coated toilet tanks. We found that using a soft brush on the inside surface when the cleaner is first applied will help remove ALL the coating, rust etc from the tank. It has been over a year and the tanks are still quite clean. Will not use the cleaner again until needed.
