Q:does this fit under a cast iron undermount sink
          by|May 14, 2015

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. The sink flange included in all InSinkErator disposer packages require a 3 1/2” sink opening and can accommodate ¾” maximum thickness of sink. The approximate shipping weight of the Evolution Essential disposer is 20.8 lbs. You may need to provide these information to the sink manufacturer to make sure that your cast iron sink can handle the specifications of the said disposer. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us through insinkeratorfeedback@emerson.com or call InSinkErator AnswerLine at 1 (800) 558-5700. Thank you.

A:  It is much quieter than the old one. I'd rate it no more than a two and very close to 1 with 1 being the quietest and 5 the noisiest.

A:  Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. Evolution Essential does not have an auto-reverse feature. by|May 3, 2023

A:  This model does not have an auto-reverse feature. If it gets stuck, it comes with an offset wrench you use to reverse the grinders and dislodge the jam.

Q:What is the essential difference between garbage disposals Evolution Select Plus and the Evolution Essential, except cost and slight change in dimness

                        Answer This Question

A:  I originally purchased the Select Plus and returned it for the Essential. The Essential is a little less expensive than the Select Plus, but it has the same 6 year warranty. The Essential has a stainless steel chamber and the Select Plus only has stainless steel components. Lastly, the Essential states it can grind small bones and it's not mentioned on the Select Plus, so I assume the Essential might be a little more durable. I had to wait for the Essential to be deliver, but it was worth the wait. I couldn't tell it was running with the water on.

                        by|May 3, 2023

A:  Hardened stainless steel basket and rotating group in the Essential. The Select Plus is not stainless steel.

A:  the essential models have smaller exterior dimensions.

                          by|May 3, 2023

A:  Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator Customer Service. The Evolution Select Plus and Evolution Essential would both have ¾ HP and 6-year We Come to You In-Home, Parts and Labor Service Warranty. In terms of the other features of the two disposers, Evolution Essential has 40-Ounce Stainless Steel Grind Chamber and Grind Components while the Evolution Select Plus has 34.6 Stainless Steel Grind Components. In terms of the accessories included in the disposer’s package, Evolution Essential will come with a Quiet Collar Sink Baffle, while the Evolution Select Plus will come with an Antimicrobial Quiet Collar Sink Baffle. A:  The great thing about the Essential baffle is that it creates a puddle on the top of the baffle to reduce the noice coming from the grinding chamber. If you want to see the difference press down on one of the flaps; this will lett more water in and more noise out. You can remove the baffle and that will give you total unrestricted flow but solids as well as the noise will come flying out. I'm sure there are replacement baffles that can be bought at the store that aren't as effective as the Essential baffle.

A:  Shayna, If your unit came packed as mine did the sink restrictor or baffle was installed upside-down which greatly restricts everything, try pulling the baffle out turn it over and reinstall. Once I did this mine worked fine. Hope this helps!

                                by|May 3, 2023

A:  It does not come with one. However, if you cut the rubber on 2 of the opposite-side flaps, it lets water drain faster without letting food splash back.

                                by|May 3, 2023

A:  No, there isn't. The only options is to remove the baffle except when grinding.
