A:  There is a battery backup, but it is designed for emergency situations, and will not last very long. For day-to-day use it should be plugged in. A regular extension cord is fine.

It should be powered with the included AC adapter all the time. The backup batteries would last only 2 weeks max if no AC power. A:  The two sensors that can detect vibration are SK621 and SK625. The sensitivity is the same. No, it cannot be adjusted.
