A: This has been a good jack (so far) but... Not long after I got it, and it was only the 2nd or 3rd time I used it, I only got about 4 inches of lift and it would quit lifting. Despite the manual saying " DO NOT add oil" I was not going to throw away a new jack that I had just paid for, and I wasnt going to go out and buy another jack. I pulled the cap, added a few ounces of oil, and it has worked fine since. Keep in mind that I have had a scissor jack in my truck, and have only had to use the floor jack a total of 7 or 8 times maybe. So overall - not great that you have an almost brand new jack that wont work, but that with a minor adjustment works well I think I would recommend this one.

A: would not recommend it for what you plan, you would be close to the limit of the jack rating, this jack is more suited for car with low clearance from the floor, recommend going for the 3-Ton Light Duty Truck Jack for the truck you drive. also get some Jack Stand to be working on safely

A: Hello,
While we cannot specifically recommend that for each type of car model the jack has a 5,000 lb. lifting capacity designed to lift most cars but if the vehicle is any heavier, or close to it, I'd recommend a higher ton jack.

A: Bcause it is not certain what the total corner weight is or front with engine or rear with only body and contents. I think a good rule is to have a jack with a capacity large enough to lift t least 75 to 100 % of the total weight of the vehicle.

A: Hey cw, typically we have found that people use a floor jack to lift up a quarter of the vehicle at the jack point (located on the underside of the vehicle). When you lift up a quarter of a car, you're probably doing so in order to change the tire. In other cases, you may use a jack to elevate half of the car, and it’s done at the axle. Having said this, you'd be lifting half of 5,000 pounds at the maximum. So theoretically this 2.5 ton jack should be sufficient. We would still suggest measuring the distance from the ground to the chassis of both your truck and SUV. This 2.5 ton jack is a low profile design, and it's a trolley jack, so it may not have the necessary full lift range to clear the wheels off the ground. Hope this helps!
