A: William, I believe what you are looking for is known as a Triple Square bit/bit socket. Triple square fasteners do have a 12-sided star pattern. These are becoming more common on European automobiles. Husky does not offer this style bit, but they are available from other manufacturers.

Answer This Question
A: LeeK, Torx ® Bits like this one are a 6-point/lobe star pattern. An 8-point fastener would either be a Double Square, or a more specialty fastener called a HeadLOK™. Husky does not offer an 8-point bit in either style.

Q:I lost the philips head bit in my boyfriends Husky ratcheting screwdriver set and am trying to replace it. Would this work with that particular tool?

Answer This Question
A: Whoops indeed, I don’t believe this is what you are looking for. This bit socket is designed to work with a 3/8 ratchet. I believe what you need is a 1/4 inch insert but, you may want to look in the power tools accessory area for a small pack of Phillips bits

Q:Can I get a couple of examples on what you'd use this particular Husky 3/8" drive with a 3/8" hex bit socket for? Although I can make due fixing some issues with vehicles depending the situation, I'm far from skilled and don't really consider being a mechanic as my trade lol! Anyhow, I've been reading that most all of the sockets I have in my 185 piece Husky mechanics tool set aren't intended nor recommended to be used with any type of impact. If an impact was used regularly with these sockets, would you say they would deteriorate quickly, or no?

Answer This Question
A: Hey ac2bshawnp,
The hex bit sockets can be used in any scenario where a hex key would be used but they provide better access, a ratcheting mechanism and a longer handle for more torque. No chrome socket is intended to or ever recommended to be used with an impact. Chrome sockets are hardened and only designed for manual drive tools. Due to the mechanism the impact uses to impart torque to the fastener it can shatter the socket causing serious injury. Impact rated sockets are made of softer materials that can absorb the impact and transfer it to the fastener without being dangerous.
Thanks!
