Q:Can this fan be mounted flush? and does the remote control lights and fan speeds?

Answer This Question
A: This can be flush mounted.
by|May 4, 2023
A: Hi Doug, No, the Sontera model cannot be flush mounted. The closest mounting option will be using the included 2 inch down rod and the measurements are as follows: from the ceiling to the bottom of the fan is 11.02 inches, from the ceiling to the bottom of the fan blades is 9.61 inches and from the ceiling to the bottom of the light kit is 16.80 inches. To turn on the fan, press a fan speed button. Speeds range from OFF (0) to HIGH (3). Quickly press the Light button to turn the lights off and on and hold the Light button to raise and dim the light level. Have a great day!

A: Mounted flush? No. The shortest downrod is 2" long. The remote? Yes, it will control both the lights (including dimming them) and the fan speeds. The only "trick" is to have the lights 'on' and the fan speed on maximum before then using the remote as your control instead of the two pull chains.

A: Hi Jojo, this fan in particular can't be installed flush to ceiling . If you're interested in purchasing a model that can be flush mounted we would recommend looking into our low-profile models. Thank you and have a great day!

A: My electrician told me that this new updated Sontera deliberately is NOT flush mounted, but hangs from a short down rod, in order to let it move slightly to release the stress on the motor from vibrations. It comes with a balancing kit to minimize any shaking. You slide the little plastic weight up and down each blade to find which location gives the least shaking, and then fasten a self-sticking little square weight that comes with the fan to that spot.

A: Hi Beez, yes, the 2-wire system would work just fine. All you need to install the receiver is a single hot wire from the ceiling and the neutral wire, as well as the ground wire. Thank you and have a great day!

A: Hello,
The Sontera model fan is manufactured for a large room and uses three, 60 watt, candelabra bulbs. If you are wanting brighter lighting, you can use LED bulbs with this fan as long as the wattage of the LED bulb does not exceed the actual wattage listed on the sticker of the light kit socket and the base of the bulb is the same. Have a great day!
by|May 4, 2023
A: My bedroom is about the same size and I swapped out the bulbs that came with the fan for LED 60W equivalent frosted dimmable bulbs, which work great.

Q:Can you work this fan with only the pull chain and not use the remote at all.

A: Yes, but there does seem to be a slight catch to it. From my limited playing with it, you need to always think of the "starting position" as the fan running at it's maximum speed and the lights 'on'. When you first start operating the unit, this is the position that you will need to be in in order to begin using the remote to control the fan speeds and the light, including the 'dimming the lights' function. If you turn the fan/lights off using the pull chain, then the remote will not turn them back on. If you turn the fan/lights off using the remote, then the chains will not turn them on. Always come back to the "Starting Position" when changing back and forth between "pull change control" and "remote control". NOTE: you cannot dim the lights using the pull chain, but if you have previously dimmed them using the remote then that is the level they will remain at when using the pull chain.
If you have turned the fan/lights off using the remote, and then lose or break the remote... then you will maybe have issues and will need to contact Hunter Fans see it there is a way to reset this thing or to get a new remote that is compatible with your unit...

A: Hello,
Yes, since the Sontera model fan is manufactured with pull chains, you will be able to bypass the remote/receiver control unit and use the fan pull chains to operate the fan speeds and lighting. If you have any questions, please message us at social@help.hunterfan.com so that we can further assist you.
by|May 4, 2023
A: Yes you can. However (at least on my unit): You will not be able to control the dimming of the lights with the pull chain and they will turn on at your last set dimming level (set with the remote); if you have last shut the lights off with the remote, then the switch will not turn them back on at all; as to the fan, you will be able to select the three fan speeds with the pull chain, but again - if you last shut the fan off using the remote then the switch will not turn it back on.
