A: The battery is enclosed in a compartment located on the handlebar on the right hand side. It is sealed against the elements and also includes the key switch.
A: The battery is inside a plastic box on the right side handlebar (copy and past this link to see an image of it: http://tinyurl.com/lf545lo The box is not waterproof, so don't let the mower sit outside uncovered. -Robert@Honda
A: Inside the black box where the keyed start is. No water issues for me to date.
A: It is located on the handle in the black box on the right handle when standing behind the mower right below the key.
A: The battery is on the right hand handle. It is enclosed in a case and is sealed. It shouldn't be bothered by getting wet, but I wouldn't use high pressure water.

A: No. The blade only stops when the mower is off.
A: Bill, there are separate control levers for both the drive and blade control. When you release the drive control lever, the mower will stop self-propelling, but the engine and blades will continue to run. Releasing the blade control stops the blades & engine, so of course, the drive system will stop propelling the mower as well if you have it engaged. This mower does have electric start, so easy enough to flip the key and get it going again. -Robert@Honda
A: No. The self propelled feature is activated by pressing the gray lever, and the blade control is operated by squeezing the black bar - which is also used to shut down the engine when it is released.
A: No. Not on this model, but the electric start makes short work of picking up where you left off.
A: Not on this mower. The self-propel is engaged with the lever on top of the handle, but the engine stop is the bar you squeeze that allows you to start the engine. There is a model which disengages the blade without stopping the engine, but this is not that model.
A: Mulches very, very, well. I only mulch and it never leaves clumps. Even in wet grass or mounded leaves.
A: Honda's HRX mowers have won top spots in consumer publications for many years now, mostly due to the exceptional performance, especially mulching. For best results, you may need to mow a bit more frequently, and try to avoid mowing when the grass is wet. -Robert@Honda
A: I had the same problem and no matter what I tried and I tried a lot of different things, it always left blades of uncut grass. I searched the internet and found this is a problem with many people. I had this mower for three seasons and finally gave up and bought a Cub Cadet. Good Luck!
A: Have an authorized Honda dealer inspect and evaluate the unit. Any factory defects would be covered under warranty. Find your local dealer here:
A: i guess i'll just return it i don't feel i should have to take a 650$ mower to the dealer after 1 use
A: You should receive a small postcard from Honda direct within 4-6 weeks of registering; if you don't see it, give Honda Customer Relations a call and they can double check. Have the full serial number ('MAGA-1234567') off the back of the mower deck when you call. -Robert@Honda

A: Look closer, Dick. The HRX gains you a larger, more powerful engine (190 cc vs. 160), a variable mulch/bag control (the HRR's is either one or the other), built-in leaf shredding, larger wheels (9" vs 8") 5 years vs. 3 year warranty, lifetime warranty on the HRX's composite deck (compared to the plain steel deck on the HRR), ball bearings on all four wheels (vs. just rear on HRR), larger bag capacity (2.5 vs. 1.9 bushels) and finally, 7 vs. 6 cutting height positions. I think the larger engine and variable mulch alone are worth the extra, but you can expect a LOT more. Hope this helps. -Robert@Honda
A: You can check the Honda website for a comparison, but I know that the deck on the HRR series is steel and the warranty on the mower is different (shorter for the HRR). The self propel operations and the clip director are also different. The bag is smaller and so is the engine on the HRR.
A: Yes,and it does start on the first pull.
A: Absolutely, and it works like a dream.
A: Yes.
A: Yes, there's a pull-start right on top of the engine just for that reason. -Robert@Honda
A: Yes
A: Honda, like most mower companies today, does not publish horsepower or torque specifications for mowers, as there is no industry-standard method to fairly measure and report the data. That said, I can tell you the general-purpose engine variation of the GCV190 engine is listed on Honda's engine site (engines.honda.com) as producing 8.3 lb-ft (11.3 Nm) @ 2500 rpm. When installed on this mower, the engine is configured to run at 3100 rpm, where the torque is tiny bit less, about 8 lb-ft (11 Nm). These are only estimates, again, as Honda does not publish actual data for engines fitted to mowers. -Robert@Honda
A: 8.3. You can find in the product spec
A: Only forward power drive-no reverse.
A: Sure, just release the drive clutch lever, and the mower will freely roll backwards. When ready to self-propel/move forward, just push the lever back to engage the rear-drive wheels. This actually takes less physical effort than pushing down to raise the front of the mower, and is safer, since the spinning blades aren't exposed, and with all four wheels on the ground, you have better traction and control. All this and more are the many reasons why rear-wheel drive is a better choice for most lawns and conditions. -Robert@Honda
A: disengage the speed throttle and you can move it backwards. I would not recommend you moving it backwards with the speed throttle on, it defeats the purpose and plus it scuffs up your lawn...trust me I know.
