A: Yes, and 2 parts welded together
A: The blades are removable and are not welded together. Make sure and take note of which order they are attached and which side of the blade faces down so you can put them back on in the correct order.
A: Yes they come off, and they are 2 separate blades. You can also purchase a new set and have one ready to go when they get dull. CAUTION: Do NOT run the mower without both blades in the set installed. The owner's manual clearly explains how to remove and replace the blades, and provides the proper torque setting for the fasteners.
A: In reading up about the mower before purchasing, the battery should be available from any Honda dealer.
A: I suggest calling Honda directly.
A: I personally think that the battery should be removed. There is no liquid in the battery.
A: Since we do not have severe winters in Central Texas, I cannot answer for severe winters, but I always either remove the battery and charge it periodically or use a solar panel trickle charger to insure that the battery stays charged.
A: I live in the north east and what I do is remove the battery and store it in the garage. The battery box is on the handle, remove two screws, disconnect wires and your good to go. If where you store it doesn't get below freezing, than you don't have to do anything.
A: I live in the northwest and our winters are not as cold but I start my mower a few times thru the winter and the battery works fine in the spring. We get to about 10 degrees occasionally but our lows are usually in the 30s.
A: I have seen nothing from Honda. Its a Gel Sell and should be OK in the cold. Hot can also degrade a battery.
A: I have no idea, I am in Texas, Call your local authorized Honda Dealer.
A: Yes it will. You will hear a clicking when you are pushing it, or pulling it backwards, but that is normal. The drive wheels (rear wheels) have a mechanism similar to a ratchet built into them that comes into play when the drive is engaged.
A: Yes, it free wheels both directions.
A: Yes, just rock it back on its rear wheels and push or pull.
A: Yes,you can just push and pull backwards. This is the best mower ever. Mike
A: With the engine running you can push it forward and pull it backwards-BUT-it's not easy to do so.I have had the mower for over a year and I do Not like the drive system-the speed varies according to your walking speed and it can be adjusted to be more and less sensitive. There is no control to set fixed speeds as was the usual until this system was devised. Also, you cannot "shift it into neutral" with the engine running. When you let go of the control bar the engine stops-again,the opposite of the norm.On the plus side,It cuts the grass very well and bags the grass well, but it is very hard to handle-especially on slopes and turns.
A: I don’t know. Perhaps the question I would ask you is: Is the mower that popped up —its features—what you are looking for? If so, may I suggest you consider that one as your choice?
A: The battery is charged when you run the engine. Mine was at least partially charged when I bought it -- certainly enough to start the engine, but if it isn't charged when you get the mower just use the pull starter and it will be charged in a fairly short time. Nothing extra is required.
A: I don't remember having any difficulty keeping the battery charged up, but in any case you can always use the pull-cord to start the engine and then (I think) the engine will re-charge the battery. MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY, ALWAYS USE NO-ETHANOL PREMIUM GASOLINE (some people use or add Avgas, which is even better). If you use regular gas or even premium gas with ethanol, the ethanol will attract water, the water will attract crud, and the ENGINE WILL GUM UP, quit running, and become impossible to start. I ruined a lawnmower this way. HOME DEPOT WAS VERY GENEROUS AND COOPERATIVE and gave me full faith and credit on a new replacement lawnmower. I won't make the same mistake again.
A: Yes, When I unpacked the new mower it had absolutely everything your needed to support and mow right out of the box.
A: No. The plug-in charger is additional. I did not buy the charger because the operators manual stated that, after storing the mower for a month or more, I could start the engine with the pull string. Furthermore, after mowing my lawn for the first time after the storage period, the battery would be fully charged. I proved the first point to be true. I will be proving the second point next week when I mow my lawn for the first time this spring.
A: The battery is charged when the engine runs, similar to your car battery. If the battery is discharged, all you have to do is use the pull starter and by the time you run it for a while the battery should be charged. It typically starts REALLY easy.
A: Yes it does. There is a plastic bag in the carton with some oil, along with the owner's manual explaining how to set it all up.
A: Yes it did
A: Yes. There is a package inside the box with the owner's manual, and instructions for setting up the mower.
A: Yes included in kit, must be installed
A: Yes
A: Yes, included is a quart of oil that you must add into engine crank case.
A: Yes, I believe it did. I bought it last spring so I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall a bottle of oil.
A: Yes it does and has complete instructions on installation and when and how to change the oil.
A: A nice touch if you have arthritis like I do.
A: Get the electric start, its so easy after emptying the bag, also my wife will cut the grass when i am gone GREAT.. Its worth it.
A: You don't *need* one, but it makes life a lot easier! I have an electric start and IMO it's worth the investment- it's so easy to start every single time. Just turn the key vs. pulling a cord that won't budge, snaps back, won't start, etc. I'm really glad I sprang for the electric start on mine!!
A: This mower cranks so easily, from the pull string you really don't need the eltric starter, but my thing is why bend if I don't have to.
A: Maybe. This mower's blades are bolted to the engine, so each time you let go of the blade lever, the engine shuts down. This could be bothersome if you frequently empty the grass bag, and the electric start makes it easier. On the other hand, if you plan on mulching, you won't let go of the blade lever as often, and Honda engines have a strong rep for being easy to start (1-2 pulls) -Robert@Honda
A: In my opinion Do Not waste your money. The electric start on my mower has been totally unreliable (not to mention the mower itself). Honda has replaced the battery three times, they have replaced the coil at least three times. The engine has been replaced once. If you are bagging your grass and need to empty the bag several times the battery will not enough to use the electric start. The charger for the battery is expensive so you need to think about that and now for the "OH BY THE WAY" you must remove the battery from the mower to charge the battery. If you charge the battery for more than 24 hours you will cook the battery. On the positive side Honda has honored the warranty so far.
