A:  No, there is no underlayment attached to the Distressed Brown Hickory planks. You must purchase it separately, but it is in your favor in this case. You may buy thick underlayment to assist with the insulating factor of the flooring for about $50 a roll for the thickest material. I used the quiet-walk system from Lowe's as it is made from felt. It makes the floor very quiet when walking on it.

A:  High Gloss products do by nature show scratching more readily than a lower luster product. The liklihood for the scratches to happen is deturmined by use, care, and preventive maintenance such as: • Protect your floor when using a dolly for moving furniture or appliances. Protective sheets and/or plywood may be needed. Never slide or roll heavy furniture or appliances across the floor. • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and other heavy objects. • Minimize abrasive material and dirt by placing mats on both sides of exterior doors and by using area rugs in high-traffic areas • Use protective mats beneath rolling chairs and keep furniture casters clean. • Keep pets’ nails trimmed. • Remove shoes with cleats, spikes or exceptionally pointy heels before walking on the floor.

A:  Not easily scratched. We have a 130 lb dog who runs all over it and there are no scratches from his claws. However, it does not hold up well against any spilled liquid. If you allow a drop of liquid to land where two pieces meet, then you will almost surely have the laminate peel up at the edge. Even if you clean the spill right away, the damage is done.

A:  This flooring is on the darker side, a medium dark, in the least. Darker floors in this category would be the canyon grenadillo (HL1002), the maple salinas (HL1041), and the maple mendocino (HL1042).

A:  Yes, it does. All of our 8mm laminates will have a high gloss finish.
