Q:which kind of stair nose molding should I use with this Hand Scraped Maple Sedona 3/8 in. T x 4-3...

Answer This Question

A:  It depends on how the stairs are made. There are 3 basic trim pieces available. A “T” trim section for joining or transitioning to similar height floors, nosing that wrap around the edge of the floor, and a sloped trim to taper down to an existing floor. It depends on what direction your flooring is compared to the stairs and if you flooring is going to the landing board or the stair edge ( I’m not a big fan of the later because the top stair edge could be hard to see). When I installed my flooring the stairs had a landing board at the top of the stairs and I used a “t” trim, used to join same thickness sections, and trimmed off one side to but up to the landing board.

        Answer This Question

A:  Dear Customer: The construction of this product is Veneer over High Density Fiberboard (HDF) Engineered Hardwood Flooring. Refinishing isn't recommended for this product.

        by|Jan 9, 2019

A:  No it is not. It is only veneered.

          by|Jan 9, 2019

A:  I am sorry I don't really know. You can call the company at 877-690-WOOD or email them at Marketing@homelegend.com. They may be able to help you. I would look at the box of flooring that I kept, but it is in storage.

A:  No you cannot refinish the floor. I keep my floors clean and shinning by using bono products

              by|Jan 12, 2019

A:  I'm not sure if it can be refinished or not. This a question for the people that make it. I put mine in a year ago and it looks great.

                by|Jan 11, 2019

A:  It’s been awhile since I last installed this flooring but if I recall this is an engineered product and the top 1/8” or so was actual wood. So, you probably could refinish but you take the chance of ruining the floor.

                    Answer This Question

A:  We installed the flooring in two of our upstairs bedrooms and a hallway. The first boxes of flooring we purchased for the bedroom were in perfect shape and all matched perfectly. .A year later we decided to extend the flooring into the hallway and an attached bedroom and purchased some more boxes. We noticed some of flooring pieces were filled with a putty, that didn't look as appealing. The flooring is an engineered hardwood and the manufacturer uses a putty to fill in some of the holes left in the wood (we didn't use those pieces). You might want to ask a salesperson at Home Depot about installing the flooring in a kitchen, all I can say is the surface of the flooring is a little softer than let's say Pergo flooring. The flooring does scratch easily, so you would have to be careful and make sure nothing gets dragged across the flooring. I would also make sure nothing gets dropped on the flooring or it will dent. All in all it is a beautiful flooring maybe just purchase 1 box and check it out for yourself.

A:  The finish wore off on the product. I would find an alternative.

A:  You can use in any room you desire, and it is definitely durable enough. However, using in wet areas is something I would personally avoid. Unlike tile it remains porous at the edges. If something leaks, and gets under it, it will not dry and could be a source of mold formation. Had a small leak in my shower that went into the wall and into the bedroom. Had to take half the flooring up in order to dry the floor underneath, also had to replace several boards. Wet areas are more likely to have leaks.

A:  Yes, you can. The floor is water resistant in some degree. I use wet mop to clean up the floor with no problem.

A:  No it does not. You select the separate type/grade of padding and install it prior to the flooring. I would recommend a mid quality 3-in-1 padding/vapor/acoustic/barrier.

A:  No. It is click lock pieces and board on both sides. We used heated floor padding and felt underlayment for radiant floor heat. We've also used cork soundproofing, and a water barrier layer.

Q:Installing in Florida over concrete pad in four season porch with old 1974 jalousie windows. Currently there's a thin industrial carpet down on the concrete pad and was told I could lay this product over the carpet. In heavy storms, the porch exterior door threshold allows moisture to soak into the carpet 1-2". Do you suggest removing the carpet and laying the floor over a moisture barrier sheet product, or can we place the moisture barrier product right on top of the carpet?

A:  Hi. First, I would suggest fixing your water intrusion issue... if you put the moisture barrier down over carpet and it gets wet there is a chance you’ll trap moisture and encourage mold growth. Just because the water isn’t affecting the wood it can cause damage in other ways. Laying over carpet - I prefer to remove carpet whenever I can to install a different type of flooring but I don’t see any problem with what you are doing as long as it is a very firm carpet with minimal give. I would suggest buying a moisture barrier type underlayment like Roberts Airgard available at Home Depot to lay over the concrete before laying the wood floor.

                                                by|May 5, 2023

A:  Moisture barriers are recommended to assist with preventing moisture damage. However, moisture barriers cannot protect from all moisture exposure as you have described. Acceptable floor coverings include: solid hardwood, linoleum, terrazzo, ceramic tile and other “moisture sealing floors.” Unacceptable floor coverings include: carpet, needle punch felt, edge glued linoleum and other “moisture absorbing flooring.”

A:  Gaps lenth on long side or ends? If you have gaps showing you other didn't snap it together all the way orrr more likely your slope wasn't level and it's on a convex surface. Also did you leave appropriate wall gap around the room. Houses breath and shift so if you abutted the walls too tightly the changes in weather may cause slight buckling if you installed this to be a "floating" floor. Also this product is engineered wood not laminent. So I hoped you let it acclimate for a day or to in the room in which is was installled.

During heating season, a humidifier is recommended to prevent excess shrinkage or gaps in the flooring due to low humidity levels. During the non-heating season, humidity levels can be maintained by using an air conditioner, dehumidifier, or by turning on your heating system periodically.
