            Q:Are the clips equipped with teeth or with do they have pads [like silicone, perhaps]; I cannot use teeth with the fabric that I will be using. The picture looks as though it might not be teeth [Perhaps my wishful thinking.]

                      A:  You could fuss and remove the clip. It is fastened to ring with a metal hook that would need to be bent out to remove along with the clip. So, no, I'd just buy rings if that's what you want.
