Answer This Question

A:  Shortening this rod would very likely damage the inner spring mechanism that provides the tension. I would not attempt. There are other products out there for a shorter width.

by|May 5, 2023

A:  No, this can not be shorten to 15".

A:  This rod is not resistant against rust, rain, snow, wind, air, or gravity. It will just fail no matter what.

A:  Rod will rust eventually. I wouldn't use it outside.

        A:  will rust.

A:  As long as they are protected from the weather and you are not hanging anything heavy on them, they will work. I had to wrap a thin strip of duct tape around the end and cover it with the rubber cap to keep them together. That is a very simple fix considering the price.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for your inquiry into how to get the tension rod apart to take off the curtain. If you are asking how to release the tension rod from the area where it is hanging, you would just twist the ends in opposite directions and this would release the rod thereby allowing you to remove the curtain. Thank you for shopping The Home Depot.

A:  you need a screwdriver to release the spring, then you can take the rod down.

Q:I purchased the 48" - 84" adjustable oval rod. The window spread is around 70", so it's perfect. However, how does the tension work? placed one end on the left, the other on the right; but it won't stay up. It doesn't turn to secure, like a shower curtain rod would do. Forgive my stupidity, just getting into the DIY mode!

A:  Depends on the surface it's against. Smooth tile, not much- rough wood- a lot. We have ours on the inside of a window frame (vinyl/smooth) and it holds about 3 lbs.
