Q:why is this now discontinued at home depot? it had high ratings. this is still available at Lowes...

Answer This Question

A:  Ours is a couple years old and it is ready for a carb rebuild. But it has leaked gas for at least the past year. In today's disposable society, we will probably just replace it with a good one. It worked great for the first year to year and a half. But then it became really hard to start - 10 pulls. Gradually it became hard to get it up to speed and keep it running. Bottom line - buy a Stihl once and pay the extra money and get something that will last.

A:  You're better off calling HD corporate to find out when this item will be in stock. Corporate can answer your question and they also are willing to call the manufacturer for estimated date. Corporate did this for me on a pressure washer that was on a sale which I ordered on-line but back-ordered

A:  50:1 for the last 2 years. I use the blower year round. I just started using ethanol gas treatment and Sta-bil storage to my gas. I want my lawn equipment running good.

A:  Mixing tends to be a bit of an inexact science where one drip makes a difference in small mixes. Sticking close to 40:1 should be fine and not invite premature issues with the engine.

A:  Manual said 25-50 to 1 ratio. I am using 50:1 mix in mine and works just fine. This way I can use the same as my trimmer uses.

A:  Hi Jack, I'm Travis from The Home Depot. Thanks for visiting our site. You can run different oils that prescribe 40:1 and 50:1 mixing ratios with equal results. The difference is the quality of the base oil that is used by the oil manufacturer. Oil that has superior lubricating qualities will achieve that lubrication using less oil (50:1). Inferior oil requires more oil to lubricate (40:1). Oil that is recommended to be mixed at a ratio of 50:1 (50 parts gasoline to 1 part oil) will lubricate any high RPM 2-cycle engine made by any engine manufacturer. Hi RPM means average engine speed greater than 5,000 RPM. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) imposed clean air standards on small engines, the ratio of 40:1 was determined to meet the emissions standard set at that time. 50:1 exceeds that standard and produces fewer emissions than 40:1 does. 32:1 and other lower ratios have been eliminated from manufacture as result of these clean air requirements. You can run 50:1 or 40:1 fuel mix in any of your equipment. 40:1 will produce more emissions, but they are within the EPA's guidelines. Thank you for asking, -Travis

A:  The manual states that the mixture of gas/oil should be between 25:1and 50 :1. The maximum ethanol content is 10 percent.
