    A:  It is suggested that the lights be removed during harsh weather but we encountered an unexpected freeze and they worked as normal.

    A:  Since I live in Central Texas, harsh winters are not a problem. The sun does a number on the the recharging collector. I have the for many years and they are wonderful otherwise. When they die, I save the good parts to replace items that might get damaged.

      Q:The description lays out that this unit is made up of plastic and metal. Can someone tell me what parts are what? Is the top cap with the solar cell plastic or some other material layout.

      A:  Yes, the top part with the solar cell is metal there is the glass insert surrounded by 4 strips of metal and the pole and stake that inserts into the lamp are plastic.
