A:  Hi Cs, thank you for your inquiry. This can be used outside but must be coated with a protector since the outside elements can change the state of the wood. We hope this helps.

Q:How do you install this product on a flat Bathroom mirror in order to get a framed mirror look?

            Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry Brenda. You will need to measure the mirror and cut the casing to the size required with the corner blocks. You can fasten the casing and corner blocks together with wood glue and secure with finishing nails. You will then need to find an adhesive that will attach the frame to the mirror.

Q:Does anyone have the dimensions of the groves themselves. How far apart and how deep they are?

              Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in this product. From the edge of the casing to the beginning of the first flute is 0.481 inches. The depth of the grooves themselves are not available. If you are trying to match what you currently have in your house, your best option is to bring a piece to the store to see if it matches.

Q:Would this work well to trim a bathroom mirror or do you have specific kits for that?

A:  I think it might! It depends, if you have a flat mirror affixed to the wall, you'll need to keep in mind that this wood is 3/4 inches thick, so it would look like a recessed mirror. You'd just have to be a bit creative...I personally think framing a bathroom mirror is a great idea! I used for window dressing, with plantation shutters, and it looks andsolutely beautiful.

A:  Thank you for your interest in the product. We do not have specific kits for this type of project, but you can absolutely use this set for that, just cut the casing to the size you need. Great idea!

A:  I don't see why not. This is unfinished wood so it would have to be painted or stained. We just stained ours and it looks great.

A:  We installed on our mirrors. Easy job, .

A:  Hi and thank you for your interest and question. The 4001 is milled from Basswood, it is in the hardwood family. It is softer and lighter in color, and will except stain well. As with any staining project, we highly recommend the use of a good quality pre-stain wood conditioner before applying the stain. This conditioner will help to give a more even stained finish when your stain has been applied. As to a brand of stain, Home Depot has several to choose from and all will do the job. We might recommend that you speak with your local paint specialist at the Home Depot near you, to find what might work for your project.

A:  It most likely will take multiple coats if you desire a dark stain color, but it accepts stain just fine.
