        Q:Will these work in a basement remodel where the joists are 2 x 8, roughly 7 1/8 - 7 1/4”? Or will I need to use the shallow housing? I do plan on insulating the ceiling as well then drywall.

        A:  This housing is 7-1/2" including 1/2" collar. The shallow housing would be more suitable.
