A:  These ring shanked galvanized nails worked great and will outlast the PT wood.

    A:  NO

    by|Nov 11, 2019

A:  Yes, they're. Two things you should keep in mind when picking nails for your fencing project is the proper length. If you find them in 2 in they'll be perfect.

    by|Aug 5, 2020

A:  These are "Hot Galvanized" NOT "Hot Dipped". Hot-Galvanized Nails are tumbled with hot zinc chips that leave zinc on the metal they contact. The zinc coverage is spotty at best. You asked about "Hot-Dipped" galvanized nails which these are not. "Hot-Dipped" nails resist ruts for a MUCH longer time. Then there are "Double dipped" nails that have a more uniform and thicker coating of zinc. These are more resistant to rust and are the best galvanized nails for pressure treated material.

A:  They are galvanized. I don't know if they are hot dipped. That is what I used them for when I had to replace a bunch of fence. Worked great and didn't jamb.

        by|Jan 1, 2020

A:  Yes they are hot dipped I used them for my fence and built a storage shed.

A:  They should. The nails seem to be interchangeable as long as you follow the size and angle requirements of the nailer. I used them for fastening wood pieces together and they should work for wood siding.

              by|May 6, 2023

A:  Yes they will work but you might want something a little shorter

              by|Oct 16, 2020

A:  yes they should fit, but they jam up often

A:  These are too short for toe-nailing. Check local code for your area, you may need a strong tie solution.

A:  2 3/8 in. nails are a little short for this. For nailing typical 2x studs to a bottom plate or top plate the UBC requires 4 - 8d common nails, two per side of the stud. 8d common nails, which are 2 1/2 inches long, are often the best choice. The best nails for framing are 3 1/2 inches long. These are called 16-d, or "16-penny," nails. You'll see two types of 16d nails at a hardware store (the "d" is an archaic English abbreviation for "penny"). Common nails have a smooth head, while sinkers have a textured head that prevents hammers from slipping. Of the two types, common nails have a diameter of 0.162 inches and are heftier, but the sleek 0.148-inch sinkers are better for framing. Sinkers usually have a coating of vinyl or epoxy that helps them slide into wood more easily, which is an important consideration when you have to drive a large number of them. Hope this helps

Q:I'm installing 23/32" Advantech OSB subflooring. They call for a 10d ring shank nail that extends 1+" into the floor joist. Is this nail considered a 10d?

                  Answer This Question

A:  No it is not. You would need a nail that is 0.148 in diameter. Is this being used for typical floor, subfloor sheathing? I have never seen a 10d nail being called out for that type of application and I have been framing for 21 yrs. With subfloor glue and the nail you referenced above, you would be just fine in my neck of the woods. That's my 2 cents!
