Q:can I use these for vinyl Plastpro planking (bought at homedepot)
by|Oct 17, 2019

Answer This Question
A: With what's likely 3/8" ply and the depth of the planking, it should be just enough to barely go past the drywall and into anything behind it. I don't know if you're trying to hit a stud, at which point you may want something a little longer. I used them for some trim in my bathroom and they worked well and have a slightly broader head on them so all of the leftovers worked well for hanging pictures & tin tackers

A: these nails are for moulding as much as the panel board. i would however use smaller finish nails on smaller mouldings though.

A: Yes, but since you will only make it 5/8 into the wall, I would dot the mounding with liquid nails first for a little reinforcement.

Q:This nail is described as "#16-1/2 x 1-5/8 in." What does the "1/2" refer to in that description? I understand that the "1-5/8" refers to the length of the nail in inches. But I don't get what the "1/2" refers to. I don't see ANYTHING in this nail that could be 1/2 inches.

A: No, this product is not recommended for use with plastered surfaces.

A: Panel Board nails should be attached into wood furring or studs.
They could potentially pull loose from plaster.
Thank you for your question.
by|May 30, 2020
A: If you are asking if it will work for installing plaster, I would say no. You need drywall screws for that.

A: Use a standard hammer to get the nail 95% in. Then buy a nail driver (looks like a screwdriver) for the last 5%.

A: Hello Brit,
These are very small nails and are not very load barring. I would suggest anchor for holding the candle holders and such.
Thank you for your inquiry.

A: You could use these panel board nails for this application. However, we would recommend the following nails higher for your crown moulding application;

Q:do these come in 2 inch size?

Answer This Question
A: If they do, they bend so easily, I'd really reconsider. Even if you need to go through layers of drywall, I'd stick with the minimum length you can get away with. I swear these things are made from aluminum, or some terrible pot metal - it's about as fun as trying to nail staples. This length left me swearing and with about 50% waste - the very thought of a 2" length might give me nightmares tonight.

A: No, the 1 5/8'' is the longest size this nail is available in.
