A:  A 1-1/4" galvanized or stainless roofing nail is typically used for Hardi Plank.

A:  I have never used nails on sheet metal. Sounds like a finger buster, unless the metal is very thin. Plus, a 4" rise in 10 feet sounds like a roof. Nails without the plastic seals will leak. They make screws with plastic seals that are made for metal roofing.
