Questions and Answers for Greenes Fence 4 ft. x 12 ft. Tall Tiers Original Cedar Raised Garden Bed

A:  This depends on what the wood is being treated with.

A:  The beds don’t have a bottom, they sit on the dirt. You don’t have to put anything in the bottom, just fill it with the soil mix you want! Mine have held up really well through 2 winters too. 

A:  I didn't purchase a liner, just used cardboard as a bottom layer to kill off grass that was growing underneath. Because these are fairly shallow, depending on what you're growing, I would think that it's better not to use a liner so the roots are able to extend even further down. Not sure what is meant by predrilled drainage holes because the entire bottom is open and these raised beds only forms the sides.

A:  There is no bottom to this kit.  I would suggest a landscaping liner to help control weeds. 

A:  No drainage holes. I dug the ground where the garden was to sit before filling to allow for drainage and encourage root growth. No liner was necessary

A:  This is an open bottomed garden bed. A liner can be used but is not needed.

A:  The garden bed holds about 47 cu. ft. of soil.

A:  The garden bed holds about 14 cu. ft. of soil. About 11 bags would be needed.

A:  4*4*10.5/12=14 cu. ft.

A:  I bought 8 50qt bags of soil and an additional bag of mulch for the topping for an 11 inch high box. That doesn't quite fill it and I wish I had bought one or two more bags.

A:  This garden bed holds about 14 cu. ft. of soil.

A:  The garden bed holds about 75 cu. ft. of soil.

A:  This garden bed holds about 28 cu. ft. of soil.

A:  Roughly 30 cubit feet.

A:  26 cubit feet

A:  I used a total of 10 bags of soil plus 2 bags of compost.

A:  Approximately 22-26 cubic FEET of soil, depending on how deep you want it (and what you're growing).

A:  The description says 30 cubic feet. We ordered a yard of soil from a local nursery and we only needed about 3/4 of a yard to fill it.

A:  I think we used about 8 big bags for each side.

A:  One side of each board is smooth and the other is rough. I found the rough side actually looked better, so I faced them out. Straight boards are definitely better, if you can ensure they'll stay that way after assembly.

A:  its better to be relatively smooth. I used a level and did some digging to get close to level, then I filled it with soil.

A:  doesn't actually have to be smooth but it does need to be level where the outline wood will be resting. The inside can be just tilled or even to put down cloth or paper so weeds and grass don't grow up into your bed

A:  Just a little.

A:  The area where the garden bed will be will need to be a flat level surface.

A:  Yes, the garden bed can be added on to with other Greenes Fence Original Cedar Raised Garden Beds.

A:  Yes each corner can accept additional slats. All 4 sides.

A:  The boxes were 4x4 and I believe they were about 10" deep, but I returned the product.

A:  The four outside beds are 4'x4'x10.5" and the middle bed is 4'x4'x14".
