A: Brian - I would wholeheartedly recommend a sealant. I used a product called Garden-Seal. It was like thin white-wood glue. I think it will do a great job of keeping the boards dryer. I also used a water-safe wood glue to glue my boards together as I assembled the garden beds. And I used caulking where the boards connected to the corner posts.
