Answer This Question
A: Hello CT,
Thank you for your question on tip sizes. The tip you are going to want to use is really going to depend on the material. The RAC IV 515 Tips is a good tip for your standard latex paints, or paints about the same thickness. If you would like to call us with the information on the material, we would be able to recommend a tip size.
If you have any further questions please reference 94566 and give us a call 844 241 9498 M - F 7:30am to 5:30pm CST.

Q:Does the 515 tip create alot of overspray? I am using an interior latex and paint calls for a .15 tip but I have read that I should use a smaller tip to reduce overspray, like a .11 Graco does not recommend smaller tip like that for interior latex. Help please !

A: If you are painting inside "yes" there is a lot of over spray that is why you should were a disposable suet. if you don't want over spray you can use the roller attachment, the suet and plastic to cover what you don't want paint on is less costly for your project. Spraying is always faster and less exhausting if you don't paint every day.

A: Over spray can be minimized by using the correct orifice size recommended by the paint manufacturer. Then I would recommend starting with a lower pressure and turning up until you get proper atomization.

A: Glenn,
313 tip would have a six inch fan. You can determine this by taking the first number and multiply it by two.

A: Hayden,
The life of the tips depends upon the type of material that is sprayed and where the pressure is set. Material that is abrasive, which is found in thicker materials, will wear the tip faster than thinner, less abrasive material. Higher pressure will cause the tip to wear faster also. If your spraying less than 30 gallons and at a proper pressure, check the tip for build up. If you are spraying more or at maximum pressure, the tip very well could be wearing out. A: Hi Tepp,
Thank you for yur interest in Graco spray tips.
The first numer identifies the width of the spray pattern, as you siad, a 5 indicates a 10" spray pattern.
The last two numbers identify the size of the hole in the tip. If the last two numbers of the tip are "15", this means it has a .015" hole or orifice. You will need to match this size against what the coating manufacturer recommends for spraying the coating. Thinner products such as stains and polyurethaanes require a smaller tip size such as .011 or .013. Thicker coatings such as interior and exterior latexs's require a larger tip size such as .015 or .017. Make sure the tip size you are using does not exceed the maximum tip size supported by your sprayer.

A: Hi Tepp, the second two numbers are the orifice size, like .015.
This controls the amount of paint coming out of the gun.
Take a look at the link below. Here is a chart that includes types of material you're painting, and the tip to use.

A: Hi Ricky,
Thank you for your interest in Graco spray tips.
A Graco spray tip pattern size can be determined by the numbering on the tip. In your case a 515 spray tip will have a 10-12 inch spray pattern. Take the first number of the 515 tip and double it, 5 becomes 10. This tip will have a 10 inch spray pattern.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Ricky,
Thanks for your interest in Graco spray tips.
The RAC IV 515 spray tip has a fan pattern width of 10 -12 inches when held 12 inches from the work surface.
An easy way to determine the spray pattern width of a Graco tip is to take the first number of the tip (515) and double it, 5 becomes 10. This tip will have a spray pattern width of 10 inches.
The last two numbers are the size of the tip hole. On a 515 tip this means it will have an orifice of .015" which is ideal for enamels, primers, interior & exterior latex coatings.
