Look for the VOC data. Truth be told, i recall no odor at all, perhaps a tad bit of odor from the wall covering itself. My father was a master "paper hanger" in his days. I grew up with his use of "Wheat Pastes" as the wall covering adhesives. Your question of safety are valid for many reasons. I found the product to be odorless to my recollection.
