A:  It is identical to the darker one and is a vented/ mesh metal shelf.

A:  It is not a wood shelf. It is, as you surmised a ventillated steel shelf. These are very solid units though.

A:  The shelf is made of steel. They are very strong. This is the same as the black shelf, only painted white.

A:  It's not wood It's wired mess

A:  Hello BKX, thank you for your interest in the Gladiator GarageWorks products. The Gladiator Everest White GearLoft Shelf only comes with a ventilated/screen material shelf.

A:  It is all steel with a ventilated shelf. The only difference is the color.

A:  This is a steel shelf. Exact the same as the dark color, but just with white powdercoat instead. yes, the surface is ventilated, not solid.

A:  I used the smaller shelf below this and it works fine.

A:  Yes, you can adjust the supports to whatever configuration you desire.

A:  This can be mounted one shelf above the other.

A:  Not easily. The shelves take up most of the 48in plastic runners that attach to the wall and also overlap if you were trying to do it with 2 runners. You have to have at least one more runner and would have to do the bottom shelf flipped so that the support arms extend up rather than down. The other concern would be that the shelves would be slightly offset from each other and look odd potentially. If you want the shelves to line up you need 2 additional rails to mount it on. It is possible to add one of the smaller width shelves either the solid or grate ones below the shelf on the lower rail - those shelves only attach to one rail. It's not a lot of height for those shelves, but makes good use of the space - I have 2 set up this way. The grate shelf provides a few more inches of height vs. the solid shelf based on how they attach, but the solid is stronger and doesn't bend like the grate one does a little.

A:  You could do that with three Gear Tracks, if you have the braces of one shelf above the shelf and the braces of the other shelf below the shelf. However, you would not be able to align the two shelves vertically; they would have to be offset. If you wanted your shelves to be aligned vertically, you'd need to have two dedicated Gear Tracks for each shelf. I hope this helps.

A:  Thank you for your interest in the Gladiator Garageworks products. Yes, the GearLoft shelves can be mounted one above the other with the GearTrack channels or GearWall panels.

A:  i've mounted them side by side but not vertically, seems too inefficient but if you have the space on the gear wall, you can certainly go for it. Be cognizant of total weight though.

A:  That would require extra tracks, they would not interlock and need separation between the layers. You could stagger them, but I think that would take a lot of extra room to make that work.

A:  You could stack them with the mounting brackets going up on the top shelf and down on the bottom shelf. They can be assembled either way. I stacked them two up but enough space between them for the brackets all going down as I had bigger items to put on them.

A:  This is as close as I have been able to get them. See pic.

A:  NO, but they have other wire shelves that are smaller

A:  The closest item would be the 30x12 shelf which has a different construction.

A:  Right now they only offer the 45in in this style. They have a 30'' width solid shelf, but it's depth is only 12'' vs. 20'' of this shelf.

A:  I have only seen this shelf in the 45" length.

A:  You need the track which you can get at some stores that may have it in store. you can also buy it in store at most Sears which also sell Gladiator cabinets

A:  It comes with everything needed to mount to either gear track or gear wall.

A:  Must order the Gear Wall or Gear track separately. If you order the Gear track you will need a set of two tracks. Gear wall panels allow for single panel installation.

A:  It does not, and they are not in stock at the store. They have to be special ordered. Been waiting for 2 weeks

A:  Thank you for your inquiry on Gladiator Garageworks. The GearLoft Shelf is intended for installation on either GearTrack Channels or GearWall panels. Installation without either of these products would void the warranty and could compromise the weight capacity. Thank you.

A:  Maybe but it would take some extra drilling of holes and some disassembly of included hardware. I wouldn't try it. Besides, other direct mount stuff is cheaper!

A:  The system was designed to mount to the track that has channels in it. The track allows the shelf to be moved but also helps distribute the weight across the wall. Not using the track may be possible but it could make the shelf unsafe. Track pieces come in various lengths and are not expensive. Be sure to follow the directions and mount tracks safely and securely. Also check that there are no electric wires behind the walls . Gladiator sells screw mounting kits that are recommended for mounting

A:  You could, but you would have to alter (drill) the shelves. This would weaken the shelf.

A:  I do not recommend doing so without the channel system because there is a "rail" or hook almost the entire length of the shelf so it will fit in the channel system. In short, I would say no.

A:  The shelves hold a substantial amount of weight when mounted properly but the weight will depend on the size of the shelf. I suggest looking up the technical details of the shelf you are interested in. The 45 inch shelf unit has a weighted capacity of 100 lbs. or 45.5 kg. I would recommend not loading it up to the limit

A:  cant say for sure, but I've stacked plenty on it. I think it would be more limited by how well the gear tracks are secured to the wall.
