A:  Hello East1962, yes you can use as little as 1 chain link to install on a sloped ceiling. The fixture measures 15.769" tall from the bottom of the cage to the top of the loop ring (before any chain). The loop measures 1.496" in diameter. A:  The Bretton is a tall pendant (nice) light fixture that works best in 9' or higher ceilings. If considering for use with an 8' ceiling, the fixture would be best mounted over a dinning table or other areas that are not in a direct walking path. Sea Gull lighting does offer a version that is flush mountable.

A:  Hello Rudy3814, you can install this as a semi-flush for a close to ceiling application. It would hang 15.25" down. A:  I would not put it on a 8' ceiling its just short of a foot its not going to look to good, Home Depot has many styles that would fit your needs better.

A:  The Bretton is a tall light fixture. If considering for use with an 8' ceiling, the fixture would be best mounted over a dinning table or other area where driver attempt to take the List.

A:  The bottom and top of this light fixture are open. .
