A: Hi Don, great question! The GE 12720 is a Z-Wave product. It connects wirelessly through a different frequency and protocol from Wi-Fi. The 12720 must first be connected to a Z-Wave Controller or hub (such as Wink) and the hub will then connect to your internet router either through Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet connection (depending on the hubs features) If the 12720 is not within range of the Wink hub, or other Z-Wave devices that are connected to the Wink hub, then the 12720 will not be able to be controlled wirelessly.

A: This is the outdated 12720 that does have the right angle plug. The modern 14284 has a straight plug but you have to buy it from Lowes since Home Depot only cares this older model.

A: Hello Sjones, great question. The limit of how many devices that can be controlled is determined by the Hub/Controller. It would be necessary to consult documentation of the Hub/Controller you are using to identify how many devices can be controlled at once.

A: Only if you are controlling them via certain hubs which support that. This does not have ZWave Plus like the 14284 and doe not support scenes. It does support beaming.

A: It could still work. I run a short outdoor rated cord from the in use style covered GFCI up to under my 2 foot eaves with a loop at the bottom for safety. I use coaxial staples to secure the cords to the siding so it doe not hang out where it can get wet. I have the splitter under the eaves and as close to the house as possible and secured in place. I then run another outdoor rated cord to each light set. Some of my light have built-in Wi-Fi and other do not but I would get the 14284 instead of this older model.
