Q:Does this have to vent outside? Not run through a filter

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Clyde- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for viewing! The microwave does not require outdoor venting. If not venting outdoors, follow the instructions for converting to recirculating (non-vent) provided in the Installation Instructions. The air will be recirculated through a disposable charcoal filter (included) that helps remove smoke and odors. The charcoal filter cannot be cleaned. It must be replaced periodically. See the Owner's Manual for complete details. Thanks for checking with us!

Q:is this model for outside vent only

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Joey - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. This is a wonderful over-the-range microwave. It comes ready to be installed with it externally vented to the outside through the top. However, like our other over-the-range microwaves, it can be modified to be either vented externally through the back or internally vented through the top. If recirculating and internally venting through the top, you will want to install a charcoal filter. The instructions for changing the venting can be located in the Installation Instructions. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

          Answer This Question

A:  Hello Elaine, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. I will be happy to help! Any of our 30" over-the-range microwaves should work in your space as they are designed to be installed in the same upper cabinet space (30" min. width, 12" min.-13" max. depth, 66" min. mounting height). We actually highly recommend an over-the-range Advantium 120. It is a microwave and oven all-in-one. Our cunsumers who have the Advantium never want to go back to just a microwave again. It is also important to know that you will need to use the mounting brackets and hardware that come with the new microwave. The mounting kits have changed over the years and are not interchangeable. Current models are installed with the use of a mounting plate. There is a key slot for flat bottomed cabinets and self-directed tapping screws. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

              Answer This Question

A:  Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The volume can be changed to mute your "everyday sounds." It will not make a sound when the buttons are pressed and will not beep when the cook time is complete. The timer will still beep, since that is its function and is something you choose to set. If there is an error or fault code, the unit may beep as well, but of course this should be rare, if it happens at all. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
