A:  This item will not hook up to a Samsung Galaxy phone.

A:  If your laptop has an HDMI port and allows it's screen to be output via HDMI, then yes, you certainly can. You might have to look in the display options of your laptop to tell it to use HDMI. The display options section can be found in control panel, it's the same place you can go to set different wallpapers and adjust screen resolution. Some newer laptops will atomatically detect the TV as a monitor so all you have to do is plug up, this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. I hope this helps.

A:  I need to know which cable before I can tell you what it can and cannot connect to. If your local Home Depot carries this cable, they will take it back if it does not do what you expected it to. Better yet, ask the experts there what is the BEST cable to go between your laptop and TV. Following are the BEST cable combinations for SOME laptop-TV combinations. I am only going to cover the fully digital video connection possibilities. #1 and #2 are also fully digital audio connections; for #3-#6 you will need a separate audio connection to your TV or sound system, or you will be listening to your laptop's built-in sound system. #1 If your laptop has a mini HDMI port, and your TV has an HDMI port, buy a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable. #2 If your laptop has an HDMI port, and your TV has an HDMI port, buy an HDMI cable. #3 If your laptop has a mini HDMI port, and your TV has a DVI port, buy a mini-HMDI-to-DVI cable (very rare), OR acquire a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable and a female-HDMI-to-male-DVI adapter, OR acquire a male-mini-HDMI-to-female-DVI adapter (very rare) and a DVI cable. #4 If your laptop has an HDMI port, and your TV has a DVI port, buy an HDMI-to-DVI cable (rare), OR acquire an HDMI cable and a female-HDMI-to-male-DVI adapter, OR acquire a male-HDMI-to-female-DVI adapter and a DVI cable. #5 If your laptop has a DVI port, and your TV has a DVI port, buy a DVI cable. #6 If your laptop has a DVI port, and your TV has an HDMI port, buy an DVI-to-HDMI cable (rare), OR acquire a DVI cable and a female-DVI-to-male-HDMI adapter, OR acquire a male-DVI-to-female-HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable.
