A: We do not test our cables for heating soil. These roof cables are made for shingled roofs. That’s as far as we can tell you what the cable is for.

A: No, it will not work on drain lines. It will only operate on Charged water lines. It would not work on vinyl tubing either.

A: Yes and yes. You can use on PEX water lines and you can overwrap the heat cable. Do not overwrap the thermostat. Please follow the instructions as provided.

A: The heat cable is not designed to work on washing machine water lines. Overwrap a couple layer of fiberglass pipe wrap to help insulate the lines.

Q:can i use this under Foam Pipe Insulation? does the thermostat kick on if its not attached to the pipe? answers seem to be all over the place in the Q/A. i called the company and they said floating air should turn it on although mine hasnt yet.

A: Yes you can overwrap with tubular foam pipe insulation. And NO it will not work if the thermostat is floating in the air. The black button on the thermostat must be in contact with the pipe.
