Q:Can this lock be used from the inside that the door will not open from inside or outside. Have autistic child that we don't want to open doors going outside when we travel. Does removing the key have any affect on opening the door?

Answer This Question
A: The lock installs on the inside if the door opens inward, as 2 of my exterior doors do. For our door into the garage, which opens outward, I install the lock from inside the garage. Once installed, you can't open the door whether the key is left in place or removed.

A: No, but it works best on sliding glass panels such as a display case in a public area. I bought it to lock drawers while traveling and have found it rarely works on dresser drawers. I intend to try bending the shaft to see if I can make it more universal.

A: It depends on what you use this lock for.
I used it to temporarily secure hollow metal doors, for my application I did have to use 1 screw and modify (bend) the tab to fit the hollow metal door frame. It worked perfect for me. If used for the intended application you would not need a screw.
