A: This varies by your local jurisdiction. Please check with your local code enforcement office for their exact requirements. Remember published codes are minimum standards and a local enforcer is empowered to require something more stringent. Deck construction codes are available online if you do a brief google search.

A: Hi Shane,
Thank you for your question. If I understand your question correctly, you want to screw through the face of a 2x? into the end grain of a 2x6. We would recommend using the HeadLOK screws instead. (2) screws per joist connection maximum. Please feel free to contact Fasten Master @ 800-518-3569 or technical@fastenmaster.com.

Answer This Question
A: Hi, Thank you for your question. Is the ledger an interior or exterior application? For an interior application we recommend using our FlatLOK 5" screw. For an exterior application we recommend using the 4-1/2" HeadLOK. The threads in these fasteners are less aggressive and less likely to split the wood. Please feel free to contact Fasten Master @ 800-518-3569 or techsupport@fastenmaster.com

Q:Can these be used in wet locations such as stringers for a deck
by|Jul 19, 2021

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question. Not sure what you mean by "wet locations". Do you mean wet lumber like pressure treated or lumber that is going to be in constant wet conditions like a dock. We would recommend stainless steel on the latter. The Fasten Master LOK Series fasteners may be used where fasteners are required to exhibit corrosion resistance when exposed to adverse environmental conditions and/or in preservative-treated wood, and are alternates to hot-dip-zinc galvanized fasteners. The fasteners have been evaluated for use with wood chemically treated with waterborne alkaline copper quaternary, type D (ACQ-D).
