This product does not have a moisture barrier and will also let spills go through the carpet to the pad to the subfloor. The is a product to be used under carpet in a residential installation; not recommended for landscaping.

A:  Foam backed rugs work great for a weed barrier, if this lets water and dirt through it should keep the roots of plants moist and keep weeds from growing between the barrier and the mulch. A little more expensive than landscape fabric but cheaper than rugs. would like to try a couple of square ft, but $65 is a little steep to do a test area. Thanks for the response, it I can find some remnants somewhere I'll let you know if it works.

There is a similar product which is sold as an Area Rug Pag which will meet the square foot that you need. Please see Home Depot SKU 294560 - Future Foam model number 150553557-68. The product should be available in store for immediate purchase or can be ordered at homedepot.com

A:  You should, helps with wear and tear on the carpet and protects the hardwood floor underneath. This padding is pretty good. I've had no issues with it.
