Q:tell me the principle of operation of these valves like ? it automatically rotates to open and close ? opening and closing time depends on the timer for each zone? I use a pump, if these valves don't open due to damage, will the water pressure damage the

A:  So long as you have the proper cam installed (This valve comes with 2, 3, or 4 zone cams) and are not pumping into a dead outlet (say you are only using 3 zones and have the 4th zone capped off but did not change to the 3 zone cam) you should be ok

A:  These valves operate on water pressure alone. When the water comes on the disc inside will 'seat' to a zone. When the water turns off the disc will rise and follow the cam to be ready to again seat to the next zone when the water turns on again.

Q:How do you control the timing for each zone. 1) Does each zone operate for a fixed length of time before switching to the next zone? 2) If so, how long does each zone run? 3) or is there an ability to wire it to a timer...which does not appear to be the case since I see no wires like you would see on a typical solenoid valve.

A:  Timer controls each zone, length of time is also controlled by timer, no need for wires.

A:  Every time water flows, a cam moves one step and switches zones. An external timer is required to start/stop the irrigation pump and control the time water flow to each zone. In case your irrigation system is connected to the water main, then the timer should actuate a solenoid valve, allowing water flow to each zone for the desired time. Water should start stop the same number of times as the number of zones used. For example if the valve is set up for three zones, then the water should start/stop three times to complete the cycle. Hope this helps.

A:  i have this same flow valve and it is set up for 2 zones. it is controlled by the pump- the zone alternates each time the pump goes on and off. i think the change in water pressure causes a valve to open and close. just set your timer on your pump to go on and off accordingly.

A:  Zones are number 1, 2, 3, 4 with 1 being the one on the opposite side of the inlet, going clockwise. The two-zone cam connects to zones 1 and 4. The three-zone cam connects to zones 1,2, and 3. The four-zone cam connects to all four zones.

A:  Yes I just cap off the zones I don't use.

Q:I have had the unit for many years and lately it has stop going to one of the zones. I used to keep it greased, but I have since removed all grease and it still does not work. It is the 4 zone unit, but I'm running it with a 3 zone cam installed. I have taken it apart many times and everything looks good. Do you have any ideas? The parts do not look worn or broken.

A:  I would contact the manufacturer. Their number is 561-624-3308. They were great at diagnosing and fixing my problem (which turned out to not even be a problem with the Fimco valve but rather a bad check valve)

A:  Check the cam installed. Replace the correct Cam. If you have 3 zones, use 3 zone cam etc.

A:  A lot of time there might be a blockage in the line itself. Try blowing air through it with a compressor.

            by|Apr 23, 2019

A:  Make sure to use the correct cam for the number of zones in the installation. The 2-zone cam is marked 1-2, the 3-zone is marked 1-2-3, and the 4-zone is marked 1-2-3-4. Using a cam with less number of zones, i.e. a 2-zone cam in a 3-zone installation will cause water not to go to one zone all the time. Using a higher number of zones than required, i.e. a 4-zone cam in a 3-zone installation will not work either, because it will not activate all zones all the time. Besides, if using an irrigation pump, it can get damaged for having the flow blocked. Additionally, the assembly must be properly aligned as per provided instructions. Hope this helps.
