    Answer This Question

A:  One Box covers Covers 13.5 square feet. However many square feet you may need to cover can be divided by 13.5 square feet (one box) and this will give you the number of boxes you may need for your project. 297 square feet/13.5 square feet = 22 Boxes

Q:Do you need a pad and/or tack strip to install these, or do you just lay them directly onto the concrete floor? Do you need an adhesive to keep them from moving when walked on? Is there any kind of tapered edging to put at a door? Planning on converting an unused room in my basement to an exercise room.

A:  No tape or glue needed. They are heavy enough you just lay them down and connect them together. I’ve never had any issues, these are great for a gym floor. I’ve had for a couple years.

A:  No, I just fitted together and they are heavy enough to stay in place

            by|Apr 20, 2020

A:  Nothing needed to hold these down. The weight and tackiness of the rubber will keep these from sliding. There is a small beveled edge included with each box that is used to butt against walls or doorways. Since these are 18 x 18 you kind of have to center them to the size of your room because you really don't want to have to cut them because than the beveled edge will not fit.

A:  They can just lay down, and from my experience don't move a whole lot. The rubber material helps with this. However, you might want to use some good quality double-sided rug tape to really hold them down. I don't think there is any sort of tapered edge available for these, but they have edge pieces which makes them a "straight edge." These aren't particularly thick though, so it doesn't create much of a lip. You can even cut the pieces to fit in a particular area with relative ease. I've used a utility knife to do this to make them a more customized size. Even done that with the edge pieces. These mats are generally ok, but the really heavy duty mats can be found at other stores that sell "horse stall" mats. Those are the much thicker, commercial gym quality mats a lot of people might be looking for (yet they are also massively heavy and a bit of pain to initially get into a room). I use a horse mat in my main gym area, and these around the edges to expand the effective workout area.
