A: 140-300 amps are the sweet spot for 3/16 rods. You can get away with multiple passes on anything over 3/8 plate as long as you are using 220 power source.

A: There are limits to everything. You can lay a bead with a 3/16” rod using this Welder but your not “welding” you need more amperage. I making my living welding this machine is a good machine I was highly impressed with it.

A: do you mean for lift TIG feature ? they have a special series of TIG torches in the industry, called *gas valve TIG torches*, and denoted by the letter *V* after the series number, like WP-17V or WP-9V. and the way you hook it up is, you get an argon reg, connect it to the bottle, and then the gas line from this *V*-series TIG torch connects directly into the argon reg. now, instead of the usual on and off switch on the torch handle, you simply have a small gas valve, right on the torch handle, with which you regulate, how much argon you*re letting into the welding area.

A: you can stick weld with this machine without a gas line.ground into - or 6010.stinger lead into +

A: No, that's way more than the machine is designed to handle, in one pass anyway. If you want to do multiple passes, and take all day, maybe. But why would you want to do that?

A: i think larry missed the nickname. but, yeah, i don*t think this welder can even do what he described.
