A:  I disagree. I've used these spring type door stops interchangeably mounted either on the door or on the baseboard. What matters is the suitability of the material into which you are screwing it. Thin veneer, metal or sheetrock bad.

A:  The 4 in. Oil-Rubbed Bronze Extra Long Spring Doorstop (2-Pack) is not suitable for installation on the door, it should be installed on the baseboard / wall.

A:  You can install it anywhere. However, be aware that it is plated spring steel, not stainless. So, it will probably rust fairly quickly in the outdoor environment.

A:  I would not recommend it, I installed them in the bathroom doors and they started rusting after 6 months.

A:  Sure can. I have done that in locations where the door stop would be in the way on the stationary surface. In other situations, I have mounted the stop to the top of the door to always keep it out of the way but able to do it’s job.

A:  The silver plate opposite the bumper unwinds from the spring. This plate is mounted to the wall or baseboard w the included screw through the center pre-punched hole. There is a small hole/notch at the perimeter that the end of the stops spring winds into. You keep feeding more of the spring into the notch turning it clockwise until it secures firmly. Easy Peezy.
